Cast Panel
Watch the Video on Cast Panel
The Cast Panel shows what characters are in your script and active scene as well as the actors associated with those characters. On the initial load of the script, Filmatick scans your script and automatically populates this list.
To Open the Cast Panel, click on the Tab on the Lower Left corner of the software. This will open the tab in Quadrant 1 (Hotkey - Alt+9).
Â
On the RIGHT SIDE of the panel are the following buttons:
Maximize - this will make the panel the entire size of the software. Once this button is pushed, it is replaced with the minimize button.
Minimize - If the panel is maximized, the minimize button will replace the maximize button. Clicking on this button will return the panel to it’s original state.
Close - this will close the panel (Hotkey - Alt+9)

Using the Cast Tab
When starting Filmatick, the Cast tab populates with all of the speaking characters in your script. The user must assign actors from the Explorer Tab to each character. After the initial assignment, the user can reuse each actor in any scene or shot. Filmatick automatically assigns them but the user may re-assign a different actor for each scene or shot.
Assign characters ONLY to Scene Blocking and/or Shots. If you add a character to a set, Filmatick will think the character is part of the set and won’t be able to create shots with.
Learn more about Assigning and Adding an Actor.
In Scene or In Shot
When an actor is used in a Scene or in a Shot, Filmatick will indicate it in the Cast Tab. An overlay will say if the character is In Scene, or In Scene.
If you character is IN the scene but not used (physically in the scene), there will be no overlay.
Â
If your character hasn’t been assigned an actor, there will be a large question mark in place of the image.
