Manipulating the 3d View

The 3d view can be manipulated many ways to get to the view you want to see. You can move the view or frame the view based on a selected object.

Moving the View

  • Tumble View - Right click + Drag in the 3d View around a point of interest

  • Track View - Middle Click + Drag in the 3d View to move your view up/down/left/right

  • Zoom View - Scroll Wheel - zooms in and out of your view

Framing the View

To select an object to frame your view’s point of interest, select an object with the Left Click and click on the F key. The user can now Tumble around the character, as the point of interest is now what was selected.

Another way of selecting an object is by clicking on the object’s name in the Outliner.

The 3D Views

Creating, importing, and manipulating your objects can be in two views: Overhead or Perspective. The views may be toggled between the two and may be see together by using the overlay toggle.

Overhead View

This view shows the topdown or plan view of your set, scene blocking, or shots. The user may only zoom (in/out) and track (left/right/up/down).

Dimensions are shown on the sides of the walls.

Perspective View

This view shows the orthographic perspective view of the your set, scene blocking, or shots. The user may zoom (in/out), track (left/right/up/down), and tumble in this view.

The dimensions are NOT shown in this view.

Perspective Toggle - Switches between the Overhead view and the Perspective view. To switch between the views, click on the Perspective button. (Hotkey - Shift + Spacebar)
