Adding and Assigning Actors

In order to use a 3d actor model in your scene, you must first assign an actor to that role. Filmatick will read the script and know who each speaking actor is and will list it in the Cast Panel. Once the user assigns an actor to that role, Filmatick will ready the model to be used in every scene the actor is used.

A speaking actor is any actor that is assigned any dialog in the script.

There are two parts to putting an actor into Filmatick: Assigning an actor and Adding an actor.

Assigning Actors

  1. You must open the Scene Blocking of the Scene you want to add actors to.

  2. Right click on the scene you want to open in the Shot List Panel . This will open the 3d Scene in the upper right quadrant (Quadrant 2)

  3. To assign an actor to your project, click on the Explorer Panel on the upper left tabs of the software (Quadrant 1).

  4. Click on the word MODELS.

  5. In the expanded Models tree, Click on PEOPLE.

  6. In the expanded People tree, Click on ACTORS. This will show the actors contained in Filmatick.

  7. Locate the actor you want for a role and left click and drag that character into the 3d Scene to the right.

  8. Once you let go of the left mouse button, a window will pop up, asking you to Assign Actor to Character.

  9. Click on the character drop down to find the character in the script you want to assign the actor to. Hit confirm.

If you don’t want to assign the actor to a character in the script, simply hit cancel. The 3d actor model remains in the scene but is just not assigned to a character in the script.

An actor can be assigned or “re-assigned” to a character in the scene blocking by right clicking on the character in Scene Blocking.

The user can’t assign a character by right clicking on the character in the Set file. Only in Scene Blocking.

Adding Actors from the Cast Panel

Once an actor has been assigned to a character in the script, Filmatick remembers that for any other scene. The user can add characters to other Scene Blocking by using the Cast Panel.

  1. You must open the Scene Blocking of the Scene you want to add actors to.

  2. Right click on the scene you want to open in the Shot List Panel . This will open the 3d Scene in the upper right quadrant (Quadrant 2)

  3. Open the Cast Panel by clicking on the Cast tab on the bottom left of the software (Quadrant 3).

  4. If a character has an image above it’s name, it has been assigned an actor, proceed to the next step. If not, you must assign an actor using the steps above to Assign an Actor.

  5. Left click and drag on the image of the character you want into the 3d Scene blocking to the right.

  6. The cast panel will now place a checkmark on that character showing that it’s in the scene.
